ORGANIC CA BLOOD ORANGES 1/2 BUSHEL, 22-25 LBS

 The blood orange is a beautiful, unique orange with deep red, almost blood-colored flesh. This deep color develops as the fruit matures when night-time temperatures are low, so the degree of red pigment can vary depending on how cold the temps are. Sometimes there is red coloring on the skin too.

The blood oranges we sampled were really good. They had a distinctive flavor; stronger than other oranges and somewhat tart, but sweet and juicy too.

Blood oranges are smaller than most Navel oranges, and their skin can be tougher and harder to peel, so you might find them easier to slice and eat in wedges or toss into green salads or winter fruit salads.
