What are Ginger Gold apples like?

Golden green Ginger Gold apples are sweet and crisp with a little bit of snappy tartness. They are slow to turn brown, so they tend to behave nicely in salads or anywhere else you may need sliced apples to stay white. Ginger Gold apples are crisp and juicy.

These Ginger Gold Apples are minimally sprayed, IPM fruit

Best Uses

Excellent for fresh eating, salads, applesauce, and homemade apple juice or cider

Are Ginger Golds good for storage?

OK - Ginger Gold apples keep better than most early season apples, but not usually more than 4 weeks.

About Our IPM Apples

These apples are grown by an orchard in Michigan that has consistently provided us with good quality fruit. As is the case with most of our other conventional fruits, these apples are grown using a method of farming known as Integrated Pest Management, which makes it possible to spray minimally. You can read more about IPM here.

When to Order What

In general, the earlier apples are best for fresh eating and applesauce, while the later varieties make better winter storage apples. And of course, the cooler late fall weather helps the late apples to keep better too. Here is a helpful apple chart that shows most of the varieties we will have available this season and the best uses for each. We plan to offer different varieties of apples until mid December.
